Seliya* is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght and has obtained her JD at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school, she studied psychology and health sciences at the University of Toronto before pursuing her Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences at Western University. She has worked with physicians and professors in clinical science research, and was heavily involved with various research, writing, and publication projects as a research and teaching assistant during her studies. In law school, she was selected to be a Dean’s Fellow for Criminal Law because she pays attention§ to the needs of others and works with them to achieve their goals. She is a critical thinker that enjoys reasoning through problems to find logically sound solutions. As a student clinic fellow at Osgoode’s IP Innovation clinic, Seliya worked closely with entrepreneurs, scientists, and innovators to protect their inventions because in the world of IP, it all comes down to the details . Seliya is detail-oriented and enjoys working on complex research tasks in pursuit of her clients’ success. .

Details

Seliya Mawani (she/her)

is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght.

Seliya obtained her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she has developed a passion for client-centered advocacy.

As a student clinic fellow with Osgoode’s IP Innovation Clinic, Seliya worked with inventors and entrepreneurs to support their intellectual pursuits and helped them better understand the value of their intellectual property. She also contributed to Osgoode’s 2025 Jessup Moot Team, where her research played a key role in the team’s success at the Canadian National Rounds and International Rounds in Washington, D.C.

Prior to law school, Seliya completed her Master of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences at Western University. She was selected to present her capstone research as a keynote speaker at Western’s Research Symposium discussing practical ways in which cervical cancer outcomes can be improved among Indigenous Women in Canada.

Seliya is deeply committed to supporting clients through complex legal situations and is excited to contribute to this work at Lenczner Slaght.
