Samuel* is a summer student at Lenczner Slaght. He attends McGill University’s Faculty of Law, where he is pursuing degrees in both Civil Law and Common Law. He thrives§ in advocacy, from moots and debate competitions to negotiations and investigations, where he is known for careful preparation, structured reasoning, and confident oral arguments. He is at his best under pressure in high-stakes situations, where he stays calm, thinks strategically, and finds the best outcomes for clients. .

Samuel Ribeiro Toi (he/him)

is a summer student at Lenczner Slaght.

Samuel attends McGill University, where he is pursuing bilingual Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor degrees. During law school, he has developed a strong foundation in advocacy, alongside leadership and editorial experience. He serves as Co-President of the McGill Intellectual Property Law Student Association, Director of Stakeholder Relations for the McGill Arbitration Student Society, and Vice-President of External Affairs with the McGill Air and Space Law Association. He is also an editor for the McGill Journal of Law and Health.

Samuel has further advanced his advocacy skills through mooting. He has participated in a variety of competitions, including the Pierre-Basile-Mignault Civil Law Moot, where he won Best Respondents and received the Langlois Cup as part of the second-place duo of oralists.

Prior to law school, Samuel completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology, where he was a research assistant in cognitive processes and psycholinguistics. He also worked for Quebec’s Child Protection Services, investigating and enforcing matters under Quebec’s Youth Protection Act. Samuel is fluent in English, French, and Portuguese.
