Rameiya Paramalingam (she/her)
is a summer student at Lenczner Slaght.
She is completing her JD at the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law. As a law student, Rameiya developed a strong and committed focus on advocacy and access to justice. She volunteers with Pro Bono Students Canada in a variety of roles, including serving as a project lead at Windsor Law’s South Asian clinic, where she supports marginalized community members through improved access to legal knowledge. She has also worked with the Law Commission of Ontario to identify gaps across a broad range of legal matters and improve access to justice for Ontarians.
Advocacy has been a consistent thread throughout Rameiya’s academic and professional experiences, from public health advocacy in boardrooms and conferences to mooting in law school. Most recently, she participated in Windsor’s Transnational Law Moot Competition and the Zuber Moot Competition.
Prior to law school, Rameiya earned her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and her Master of Science from McMaster University. During her master’s degree, she presented her research at the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, D.C., contributing to work supporting the implementation of the world’s first medical hybrid airship to improve access to healthcare for Indigenous communities. She has continued to advocate for marginalized communities by promoting evidence-based strategies across a range of settings. Rameiya speaks English and Tamil.
