Leah* is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght. Prior to law school, Leah completed a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries where she pursued her interest in business and the arts. Leah has always enjoyed thinking creatively and critically when solving problems. For this reason, Leah sees§ many paths forward when working on legal issues for clients and can help identify the right solutions quickly. Leah has a knack for thinking positively and working hard when faced with obstacles. Paired with several years of customer service experience, Leah has a passion for delivering quality service and being a true team player. .

Details

Leah deVries (she/her)

is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght.

Leah graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Dual JD program at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy.

Leah was actively involved on campus as a caseworker at both the Criminal Trial Clinic and the International Intellectual Property and Patent Law Clinic at Detroit Mercy. She served on various student groups, worked for the Law Admissions team as a Student Ambassador, as a Tutorial Assistant and Research Assistant for the Faculty of Law, and as a Student Mentor for incoming law students. As a passionate advocate, Leah received distinction for a class-wide moot in 2022, participated in the province-wide Tort Moot Competition in 2023-2024 and was a semi-finalist, as well as drafted a program-wide moot problem for the 2023-2024 Transnational Moot.

During her legal education, Leah was awarded the Aird & Berlis LLP Award for significant contributions in first year law and academic performance, as well as the Dual JD Program Award for outstanding academic performance from the University of Windsor in 2023. Leah received the Book Award for both of her upper-level writing courses during her final year at Detroit Mercy Law. Leah is a member of the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society at the University of Detroit Mercy for graduating at the top of her class.

Prior to law school, Leah completed a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Industries at Toronto Metropolitan University, allowing her to specialize in media, graphics, and business, while obtaining a minor in psychology.
