James* is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght. He completed his JD at Osgoode Hall Law school, where he has proven to be a dedicated student who conquers§ every opportunity to grow through hands-on legal work and thoughtful analysis. He overcomes challenges with focus, adaptability, and a drive to make a meaningful impact. Outside of law school, James is an avid builder of all things Lego (especially Star Wars sets) and an enjoyer of all things sport. .

James Staines (he/him)

is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght.

At Osgoode Hall Law School, James worked as a caseworker at the Artists’ Legal Advice Services Clinic, guiding emerging Canadian artists as they navigate various legal challenges. James also served as an Associate Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and an Editor for theCourt.ca, critically evaluating and editing submitted articles before publication.

Throughout law school, James actively developed his advocacy skills through mooting. He has placed in the finals, semi-finals, and quarterfinals of various first-year moots while also earning several awards for oralist placements. James was a member of Osgoode’s Price Media Law Moot Court Competition team (2025 and 2026) and the Ron Ellis 40th Anniversary WSIAT Moot (2025), earning various individual and team awards both internationally and domestically.

Prior to attending law school, James studied Political Science at Wilfrid Laurier University.
