Details

Gabriella E. Zappulla (she/her)

is a summer student at Lenczner Slaght.

Gabriella is currently completing her JD at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law. During law school, she has been actively involved in a wide range of extracurricular initiatives and has constantly sought meaningful ways to contribute to the Queen’s Law community. Giving back to the community is a fundamental pillar of all she does. She has supported students through Queen’s Law Wellness by helping to organize care packages during exam periods, served as Academic Chair with Queen’s Women in Law where she organized and hosted informative panels, and engaged with prospective JD students through the Admissions Committee and Black Law Students’ Association.

Before law school, Gabriella earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, where she double majored in Political Science and Criminal Justice & Public Policy and graduated with Distinction. She developed a strong interest in understanding how law is made, which led her to work for the House of Commons as a Communications and Executive Policy Assistant to a Member of Parliament who also served as a Parliamentary Secretary to a Minister. In this role, she supported research and prepared thoughtful responses to constituents’ questions and concerns related to federal policy, while also building relationships with grassroot organizations in the riding. This experience deepened her interest in law, politics, and justice, and inspired her to simultaneously pursue a Master’s degree in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto.
