Ava* Taborda is a JD Candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School who brings a focused structure to everything she does. She demonstrates an unmatched attention to detail and a sharp instinct for what a compelling argument requires, proven through her extensive mooting experience on the Baby Gale Cassels Cup and Laskin Moot teams. Ava pairs precision§ with a strong interest in advocacy and a commitment to community. Guided by a clear sense of purpose, she leads with passion . Whether representing her peers on student government or leading the Osgoode Society for Civil Litigation, she approaches each role with clarity, intention, and care. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, music and performing. Ava has a storyteller’s instinct that sharpens her advocacy skills. She is also deeply interested in how litigators develop their arguments and their voice. .

Details

Ava Taborda (she/her)

is a summer student at Lenczner Slaght.

Ava is entering her third year at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she has pursued advocacy across a range of disciplines with notable success. While at law school, she competed as an oralist on the Baby Gale Cassels Cup team, where she earned a Second Place Appellant team award. Most recently, she represented Osgoode at the Laskin Moot, where her team placed among the Top 10 overall schools and the Top 10 written factums.

Ava further develops her commitment to client-centred advocacy through Osgoode’s Feminist Advocacy: Ending Violence Against Women clinical program. In this role, she worked with the Barbara Schlifer Commemorative Clinic, assisting clients in immigration law matters. She also strengthens her analytical and written advocacy skills as a research assistant at the Winkler Institute for Dispute Resolution.

Since her first year of law school, Ava has served on the Legal and Literary Society, Osgoode’s student government, holding representative roles. In these roles, she advocates with clarity, intention, and steady execution on behalf of her peers. Ava remains actively engaged within the Osgoode community as a school ambassador and the Co-President of the Osgoode Society for Civil Litigation, where she works to create meaningful opportunities for students interested in pursuing a litigation practice. 

Prior to law school, Ava completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Equity Studies at Trinity College at the University of Toronto, where she was recognized for academic excellence and active engagement in the school community.
