OBA Honours Tom Curry’s Excellence in Civil Litigation
Lenczner Slaght’s managing partner, Tom Curry, is the 2022 recipient of the prestigious OBA Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation.
The Ontario Bar Association will honour Tom Curry at a special awards ceremony on November 22, 2022 at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto.
This award recognizes Tom for exceptional achievement, distinguished service and contributions in the following areas:
- outstanding advocacy skills;
- professionalism, integrity and civility;
- enhancement of the practice of civil litigation;
- teaching of civil litigation and practice; and
- leadership in the Civil Litigation Bar.

Tom is recognized as one of the most experienced trial and appellate advocates of his generation in Canada. He has a long record of success in high-profile commercial litigation, class actions, arbitrations, administrative law, intellectual property, competition, and professional liability cases. In the Court of Appeal and at the Supreme Court of Canada, he has been involved in influencing significant legal issues, including the use of expert reports, civility in the profession, limitation periods, and the law of contempt, to name just a few.
Tom leads by example in his dedication to improving the legal profession through the many important positions he has held in organizations such as the Ontario Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society, the Toronto Region Bench and Bar Committee, the Federal Advisory Committee on Judicial Appointments for the Province of Ontario, among others. Furthermore, his contributions to continuing legal education have been remarkable.
As Managing Partner of Lenczner Slaght, Tom continues to lead the firm to new heights of collaboration, innovation, and success. With a focus on client service excellence, he helps to recruit, train, and develop the next generation of expert litigators.
Tom is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and is certified as a specialist in civil litigation by the Law Society of Ontario. He has also been recognized with the prestigious Law Society Medal, The Catzman Award, and The Advocates’ Society Award for Excellence in Teaching.
