Monique Jilesen to Lead the Way as Lenczner Slaght’s New Managing Partner

Continuing the tradition of being led by one of Canada’s leading trial lawyers, Lenczner Slaght is thrilled to confirm the appointment of our new Managing Partner, Monique Jilesen, effective January 1, 2023.

Monique will take over from Tom Curry who will be completing his term as Managing Partner on December 31, 2022. Tom will continue his full-time practice advocating for our clients in the courtroom while guiding our next generation of expert litigators through mentorship and training.

Tom’s bold strategic thinking and commitment to excellence led us to new heights of collaboration, innovation and success at Lenczner Slaght.

“I am very pleased that we have continued the tradition of choosing another leading trial lawyer as our Managing Partner,” says Tom Curry. “Monique is exceptional – fearless in her advocacy for clients and unwavering in her commitment to excellence. She has been a driving force in our Firm and at the Bar for many years. Monique’s values are the Firm’s values and Lenczner Slaght will continue to thrive under her leadership.”

Monique is a formidable advocate and one of the top litigation lawyers of her generation in Canada. Using the same skills that make her counsel of choice to clients, and while maintaining her full-time litigation practice, she will keep Lenczner Slaght where it belongs, at the top of the Canadian legal market.

Monique is a fearless litigator, who has succeeded in tough, notable, and high-profile cases. She knows what it takes to win. In the courtroom, she has an enviable record of success at trial and bet-the-company disputes. No matter the issue, clients trust her to find the path to victory. And so does our Firm. Monique is an empowering leader. She motivates our lawyers to take bold steps in their cases and inspires our business teams to envision and execute big, innovative ideas. She has held virtually every leadership position at our Firm and her knowledge, experience, and determination will lead us into the next 30 years and beyond.

We are also proud to announce that Matthew Lerner will be appointed to the firm’s Management Committee, effective January 1, 2023. Matt joins current members, Eli Lederman, and Tracie Crook, our Chief Operating Officer.

With Monique at the helm, our new Management Committee will lead our firm boldly into the future with one mission in mind: to deliver the best advocacy imaginable.
