ANNIE Y. NA is the Director of Legal Research at Lenczner Slaght. 

She joined the firm in 2008 after practising for nine years as a research lawyer in a large business law firm.  Her practice consists mainly of researching and analyzing complex legal issues and providing advice to the firm’s lawyers and its clients.  Annie has written on a variety of legal subjects, including good faith in contract law, corporate directors’ duty of care, remedies available to the landlord upon the tenant’s breach of lease, standards of review in administrative law, certain aspects of copyright law, the taxation of corporate reorganizations, and the recent restructuring of asset-backed commercial paper in Canada.  She has also given presentations on many legal issues, including the basic principles of statutory construction, taxation of damages awards, the law of spoliation, and interpretation of contracts.

Annie has a Ph. D in linguistics (with Distinction) from the University of Chicago.  Prior to attending law school, she was a post-doctoral researcher and instructor in theoretical linguistics at the University of Toronto.  She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association.
