MATTHEW LERNER is an associate at Lenczner Slaght.
Matthew earned an Honours Business Administration degree (with Distinction) from the Richard Ivey School of Business and also holds an LL.B. (with Distinction) from the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario. While completing his legal education Matthew was awarded the Cherniak Cup for trial advocacy and the Genest Murray Award for demonstrating promise in civil litigation. He completed his articles with Lenczner Slaght prior to his call to the Bar.
Matthew is a member of the Advocates' Society and the Canadian Bar Association.

Inquest into the death of Wayne Howard, 2010 - counsel to three physicians at the Coroner's Inquest into the death of an inmate while in custody at the Central North Correctional Centre.
1588143 Ontario Inc. v. Lantic Inc., [2010] O.J. No. 1191 (Ontario Superior Court) - counsel to the responding party on a motion to compel production of confidential financial information and tax returns refused to be produced at examinations for discovery.
Law Society of Upper Canada v. M.C., [2010] L.S.D.D. No. 3 - successful prosecution of a former member of the Law Society for various acts of professional misconduct.
EMM Financial Corp. v. Kaushik et al (2009, Ontario Superior Court) - successful motion for summary judgment on behalf of a plaintiff landlord regarding an assignee's ongoing liability for rent pursuant to a commercial lease.
