PAOLA CALCE is an associate at Lenczner Slaght. She received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor in 2001. She was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 2002. In 2009, she completed the Rotman Business Leadership program.
Paola’s broad civil litigation practice encompasses a wide range of complex commercial disputes, securities matters, government procurement, professional liability and class actions. Paola has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Federal Court of Canada. She has also appeared before administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Discipline Committee of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. Paola has taught Trial Advocacy at Osgoode Hall Law School and has been a guest speaker at lectures for the Osgoode Hall Law School LL.M. program. Paola provides assistance to self-represented litigants through Law Help Ontario. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyers Association and The Advocates’ Society.

First Capital (Canholdings) Corporation v. North American Property Group, 2010 ONSC 3196 – lead counsel on a Partition Act application.
Robinson v. Rochester Financial Limited, [2010] O.J. No. 187 (S.C.J.) – certification motion in respect of a proposed class proceeding related to a tax shelter; leave to appeal, [2010] 2010 ONSC 1899 (Div. Ct.).
Precious Metal Capital Corp. v. Smith, [2008] O.J. No. 1236 (S.C.J.) – lead counsel on a motion challenging the jurisdiction of the Canadian Courts in respect of a dispute over mining properties located in Lima, Peru; appealed to the Court of Appeal, [2008] O.J. No. 4368 (C.A.).
Precious Metal Capital Corp. v. Smith, [2008] – lead counsel on a motion for an anti-suit injunction to restrain a civil proceeding in the United Kingdom.
UBS Securities Canada Inc. v. Sands Brothers Canada Ltd., [2008] O.J. No. 1676 (S.C.J.) – trial for specific performance of an agreement for the sale of shares of the former Montreal Bourse.
Progressive Moulded Products Ltd. v. Great American Group, [2007] O.J. No. 1411 (S.C.J.) – successful application for an interlocutory injunction and preservation order to prevent industrial machinery from being sold to a third party and removed from Ontario’s jurisdiction.
Universal Workers Union, Labourers International Union of North America, Local 183 v. Ontario (Labour Relations Board), [2007] O.J. No. 1048 (Div. Ct.) – successful application for judicial review quashing a decision of the OLRB refusing to remove counsel for the respondents as a result of conflict of interest.
International Assn. Of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron workers, Local 736 v. Comstock Canada Ltd., [2007] O.J. No. 4700 (Div. Ct.) – application for judicial review to quash a decision of the OLRB in respect of the assignment of work between disputing unions.
