ELI LEDERMAN is an associate at Lenczner Slaght.
Eli obtained a B.A. in History (with Distinction) from McGill University and graduated from Dalhousie Law School with an LL.B. in 2001. In law school, Eli received the Justice Ronald N. Pugsley Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and was the winner of the Sopinka Cup National Trial Advocacy Competition.
Eli’s civil litigation practice encompasses complex commercial litigation matters, medical malpractice, professional liability, securities and class action litigation. He appears as lead counsel in the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal for Ontario and has an active practice before the Toronto Commercial List.
Eli also appears on behalf of physicians who are faced with medical-legal difficulties and regularly appears before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Eli has also appeared before the Ontario Securities Commission, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, among other administrative tribunals.
Eli is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Advocates’ Society.

Timmis v. Allen-Vanguard Corporation, [2009] O.J. No. 3336 (S.C.J.) - lead counsel on motion to strike out a pleading alleging negligent and fraudulent misrepresentation. Was successful in defeating the motion on behalf of the respondent.
Fiorillo v. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc., [2009] O.J. No. 2430 (S.C.J.) - trial counsel in an action commenced against a director of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. for oppression and fraudulent misrepresentation.
Madonia v. Stevens, [2008] O.J. No. 5434 (S.C.J.) - trial counsel in a medical malpractice case against a cardiologist in respect of the interpretation of an electrocardiogram and treatment of atrial fibrillation.
Tanglewood (Sierra Homes) Inc. v. Munro Golf Limited, 2009 CanLII 20713 (ON S.C.) - motion for interlocutory injunction to shut down the respondent's business. Was successful in defeating the motion on behalf of the respondent.
Re Jeffrey James (2008) - (Jury Verdict released on October 10, 2008) – lead counsel in the representation of physicians in high profile Coroner’s Inquest relating to the death of a psychiatric patient at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Re Waxman (2008), 31 O.S.C.B. 413 - representation of a director and officer of a public company before the Ontario Securities Commission.
Cruz v. Robins, [2008] O.J. No. 232 (C.A.) - successful defence of an obstetrician in a negligence action and subsequent appeal involving the diagnosis of gestational diabetes and the medical management of shoulder dystocia.
MacKinnon v. Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Board (2007), 88 O.R. (3d) 269 (C.A.) - representation of a $40 Billion defined benefit pension plan in respect of a claim for maladministration, breach of trust and breach of fiduciary duty.
