Four Lenczner Slaght Litigators Elected to Join The Advocates’ Society’s Leadership

We are proud to announce that Peter J. Osborne, Monique Jilesen, Shara N. Roy, and Chris Kinnear Hunter have been elected to prominent executive positions at The Advocates’ Society, a preeminent organization dedicated to promoting effective advocacy and access to justice.

Peter J. Osborne has been elected to The Advocates’ Society Board of Directors for the 2018-2022 term. The Board is comprised of leaders of the bar from across Canada who oversee and contribute to the work of the Standing Committees and Task Forces. The Directors play a key role in furthering the Society’s mission to provide opportunities for CPD, advocacy, mentoring and collegiality. As a leading trial lawyer in Canada with a long record of success, Peter has been committed to sharing his expertise and knowledge for many years. He is a regular instructor for continuing legal education programs at The Advocates’ Society.

Monique Jilesen will be the inaugural Chair on the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. The Leadership Committee, led by Monique, will oversee the Group’s contributions to The Advocates’ Society and the practice area. They are responsible for planning and coordinating the activities of the Group and contributing to the development of educational content, promotion of programs, and support of initiatives with respect to issues that affect members of the Group. As an expert in Commercial Litigation, Monique is a regular contributor to The Advocates’ Society’s programs. She was honoured by The Advocates’ Society with the 2017 Douglas K. Laidlaw Medal for Excellence in Advocacy.

Shara N. Roy was selected for the position of Member-at-Large on the Securities Litigation Practice Group. She will be one of the three Members-at-Large responsible for working with the Leadership Committee to carry out the responsibilities and initiatives of the Group, including those mentioned above, to support its members with educational programming and networking events. As a recognized expert in the area of Securities Litigation and in her new position, Shara will make a significant contribution to The Advocates’ Society and its members.

Chris Kinnear Hunter’s was also appointed to the Young Advocates Standing Committee in May. He will be a voice for young advocates, ensure their issues of concern are addressed within the profession, and help provide them with networking, mentorship, and volunteer opportunities.
